How We Work on the Gulf Coast
Asphalt Paving Baytown builds, repairs and maintains asphalt driveways and parking lots in Baytown and the towns around the upper end of Galveston Bay. The work includes new driveways, commercial lots, sealcoating, pothole and base repair, overlays and parking lot striping.
Paving here is a water problem first. Baytown averages about 64.7 inches of rain a year, the ground is flat and low, and much of the coastal prairie sits on dense clay that cracks wide open in a dry spell and swells shut when it rains. Asphalt that is placed without attention to where the water goes, or on a base that turns soft when the clay is wet, breaks up early no matter how good the mix is.
So the estimate starts with the ground. We look at how water leaves the area, where it stands after a storm, whether there is a ditch and culvert at the street, how the driveway meets the garage slab, and whether there are soft spots under the old surface. Then we write a quote that lists removal, base work, asphalt thickness, edges and any sealing or striping as separate lines, each with a price.
